23/04/25 beetroot pasta

Today we walk all the way into town, we started off in the park but kept going down Vicky rd until suddenly we were at the Star Bar. I thought you might sleep but clearly it was all too interesting. In Marks and Spencer I buy a petit pain plain roll and an egg mayo sandwich. You are quite happy as we wander around until suddenly you’re not, thankfully the bread roll was enough to keep you going and we get the bus home. Two minutes from the door you fall asleep and aren’t even roused by me bumping you up all the stairs to the flat. I sit and eat the egg sandwich with a cup of earl grey tea whilst you snooze.

Daddy is home early and we apply for your place at the forest nursery for next year. Already the waiting list is a year longer than we had hoped, apparently the more organised parents have registered for a place 6 months before their baby is even born. Because my computer is now ten years old none of the applications work anymore and suddenly my work version of word tells me it is read only and I can’t edit the application l so I send it to Chris to fill in. I boil some pasta whilst he does this and mix in some beetroot sauce from the freezer, there is still some ricotta in the fridge so I add that in for good measure. You have two bowls full and some strawberries to finish whilst I send over your forms and transfer the £75 enrolment fee.

22/04/24 sardines and rice

I feel quite disgusted removing the gristly little bones from the sardines, I’m sure they are soft enough that most people eat them but I am still a little paranoid about you choking on something. I mix the end of the tin of sardines in oil and rice cooked in the lekue microwave cooker. It’s not very glamorous and you seem to enjoy launching handfuls of it across the room and manage to eat the majority of it.

15/04/2025 Greek yoghurt

Why is lunch so much harder to figure out than dinner?

Today we only manage the end of the Greek yoghurt tub along with some toast and half an orange.

It’s a slow eat but most of it goes.

14/04/2025 Chicken Risotto

You haven’t been feeling yourself since your immunisations at the beginning of the month and you aren’t your usual happy self at the dinner table.

Today you seem to have turned a corner and ate almost all of the macaroni cheese you refused last night for lunch and 3 helpings of chicken risotto for dinner.

Celery

Carrot

Onion

Blended in the nutribullet and sweated down

Short grain pudding rice

Low salt chicken stock

Some parmesan and parsley.

Chicken. I sliced and cooked the chicken and you ate tiny cubes of it whilst we waited for the rice to get soft enough. The rest got diced too and chucked in at the end
